The seeds of Adventure Planet Travels (APT) were sown by Ugyen Tenzin, a travel veteran, who saw and was profoundly inspired by the nobility of travel and tourism business, which had remained on the blind spot of other companies in the same field. From the onset, Ugyen knew the connection and integration of community benefits and tourism, especially destination of travelers. The inspiration was always there; as a student in Sherubtse College, the country’s premier college. And the opportunity to transform the inspiration to achievement came after graduating from Sherubtse in 2005, with a Bachelors Degree in Bio-science.
He entered the tourism industry in 2006 and remained for four years. His dreams were gradually transforming to realty and a major moment was availing the meritorious ADS scholarship to pursue masters’ degree in Australia. In 2011, he has successfully completed Masters Degree in Tourism Management (BMTM) from Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia. At the University, he exhibited his academic flair, achieving high distinction in sustainable tourism management, electronic marketing, sustainability practices in tourism and hospitality, marketing in tourism and hospitality, producing creative events and event environ, both in theory and practice.
In the tourism arena, Ugyen’s competence is reflected in measures adopted to make APT distinct from other contemporaries. Though he is also driven by profit making motives, his ardent belief, which had grown stronger over the years, that the essence of business includes making a difference in the lives of people in the communities, separates APT from others.
Through benefits accrued from his vast business experience and academic, APT’s business approach is always the latest, suitably accommodating the latest trend and practices of global travel and tourism business to inculcate values for creating a better tomorrow, for future generations.
As articulated earlier, Ugyen is spurred by the belief in business responsibilities. Development literature calls it the spillover or seepage affect, where tourism opportunities and benefits are supposed to reach communities, with equity. In simple terms, business responsibility forms the core value of APT’s operation and future business expansions.
