Bhutanese food is both exotic and spicy. Chilli and cheese are common ingredients for almost all dishes. That’s why when in Bhutan, prepare to treat your palates to a host of dishes made of fresh cheese, green or red chilli. Some of the favorite Bhutanese dishes are ema datshi (chilli cheese), Kewa datshi (potato cheese), and mushroom datshi (mushroom cheese) to name a few.
Bhutanese also eat lot of meat. Dried beef (shakham), yak meat (yak sha) and sikam pa (dried pork) are part of the normal diet for many Bhutanese. Bhutanese also love noodles and dumplings.
